Associate Director of Development (Consultant)

Bash Advisory is a boutique consultancy serving leading nonprofit organizations cross the country. At this time, we seek an associate director dedicated to positioning nonprofits to thrive.

The associate director will lead our efforts to support nonprofits with their fundraising and communications needs, ensuring our clients can continue to deliver vital services and programs to their communities. This role requires a strategic thinker and strong storyteller with a proven track record in nonprofit fundraising and communications. The ideal candidate will be passionate about journalism and have the skills to help our clients achieve sustainable growth that supports community impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Consultation and Strategy Development

• Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive fundraising and communications strategies for nonprofit newsrooms.
• Conduct thorough assessments of clients' current fundraising and communication efforts and identify opportunities for improvement or augmenting capacity.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to clients on best practices in fundraising and communications.
• Stay current with trends and best practices in nonprofit fundraising, communications, and journalism.

Fundraising Support

• Assist clients in securing transformational capital, drafting grant and proposal language, designing donor cultivation opportunities, securing major gifts, and strengthening membership campaign narratives.
• Identify and pursue new funding opportunities and partnerships to support clients' financial sustainability.
• Provide training and resources to clients on effective fundraising techniques and donor stewardship.

Communications Strategy

• Develop and implement effective communications strategies to enhance clients' relationships within local and national philanthropic communities.
• Advise clients on fundraising content strategy and outreach efforts.
• Create and deliver training sessions and workshops on donor and funder communications.

Project Management

• Oversee multiple client projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality consulting services.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to provide comprehensive support to clients.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented strategies and adjust as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, journalism, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, communications, or media, with a focus on journalism preferred.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing successful fundraising and communications strategies.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in grant writing and donor relations.
• Proficiency with fundraising software, CRM systems, and digital communication tools.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Base salary is $90,000-$95,000 based on experience and qualifications, with opportunity for annual bonus.
