Description
PKPR is a boutique public relations agency in downtown Manhattan. We're hiring an Account Director to lead our environmental, conservation, and climate accounts, including a wildlife conservation organization and a forest conservation non-profit.
This is a real opportunity to step into a leadership role, own the strategy, vision, and goals for your accounts, and shape the work.
We also work with clients in fields like technology, media, innovation, and design. So for a candidate eager to stretch beyond the environmental space, this is a chance to explore that too.
The background we're looking for:
- Six to eight years in public relations or communications
- Time spent in policy, advocacy, or nonprofit work close to this space, whether in-house at an organization, government, or agency-side representing clients in these or related fields
- A strong writer who can pitch a journalist and land the story
- Ready to lead accounts and help mentor a younger team
About PKPR
Our founder got his start as a press secretary on Capitol Hill, and from the beginning PKPR has been built around advocacy, policy change, and social progress. This year we're marking our 20th anniversary. Along the way, we evolved Mozilla beyond its Firefox roots into big tech's most formidable watchdog, turned The Moth into a storytelling juggernaut, made the Moleskine notebook the must-have accessory for creatives worldwide, and transformed The Webby Awards into a pop culture phenomenon.
A note on how we work
We're a core team of six, with a wider circle of consultants and publicists who join us on specific accounts. It's a genuinely collaborative place. We brainstorm together, share the work, and the people here like their jobs and their clients. There's real mentoring and real room to grow and lead.
We’ve built PKPR to run smart and steady rather than frantic. Real systems and processes keep the work manageable, so our days generally end closer to five, and we don’t work weekends. Our clients love working with us, and the environment reflects that. It’s a place to learn, grow, and do your best work without burning out.
