    About Women of Change

    Women of Change (WOC) is a consulting and advisory firm that partners with nonprofit organizations to build and strengthen their capacity, infrastructure, and readiness for effective development operations and fundraising success.

    WOC was founded in 2017 by Raquel Marion-Virgo, CFRE, an executive-level fundraising professional with nearly two decades of experience. Raquel is a master generalist, strategist, leader, and mentor whose career path allowed her to develop and sharpen skills across nearly all key functional areas of nonprofit development and fundraising. Her experience spans local, regional, national, and international organizations with diverse missions, for which she’s raised nearly a quarter billion dollars. Raquel holds a B.A. in English from St. John’s University and an M.A. in Political Science (Urban Policy & Administration) from Brooklyn College, and is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE).

    About the Role

    WOC is seeking a freelance contract Grant Writer to join our team immediately. This is a remote, contractual position beginning in February until June 30th, with the potential for renewal.

    Core Responsibilities include:

    • Research, conceptualize, write, submit, and manage grant proposals and applications for government, foundation, and corporate opportunities to support WOC client organizations’ programming and operations.
    • Collaborate with the WOC team and client staff to gather relevant information to develop compelling grant applications and supporting documentation.
    • Manage deadlines and workflows for Letters of Intent (LOIs), grant applications, and reports, including internal deadlines for information collection, to ensure timely submission and a high success rate of funding requests.
    • Attend virtual meetings with WOC and clients to plan, develop strategy, and track grants.

    Skills and Experience

    • Minimum of 3 years of professional grant writing experience.
    • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
    • Proven ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Strong project management skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience using grant search tools, CRMs, and project management tools.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in human services, social justice, gender equality, human rights, international development, and philanthropy.

    Timeline

    This is a contract role beginning in February through June 30, 2026, with the possibility of renewal.

    Compensation

    Compensation for this role is $42/hour for up to 25 hours per month.

    Benefits

    This is a contract role, therefore, no benefits will be provided. The contract Grant Writer is responsible for paying all applicable state and federal taxes as required by law.
