    Description

    JOIN Strategies is seeking a Social Media Manager to lead social media strategies for our clients’ fights to fix America's broken healthcare system. This person will teach New Yorkers about healthcare reform, mobilize people to protect critical healthcare services, grow and engage online audiences, and manage day-to-day social operations. This role is ideal for someone who is motivated by energizing the public around health justice and has extremely strong instincts about what resonates online.

    This is a part-time, contract role for 10 months, with the potential to extend.

    This role reports directly to a JOIN partner and works closely with JOIN’s social media video producer and client-side project leads.

    Key Responsibilities

    • In collaboration with the JOIN social media producer, develop and execute a social media strategy to activate and expand one (1) TikTok channel focused on healthcare justice in New York State
      • Develop and manage the channel’s editorial calendar and publishing schedule
      • Develop an informative and engaging voice for the channel
      • Monitor audience sentiment and Tiktok trends, and translate learnings into actionable insights for JOIN team members
      • Moderate comments and manage community interactions
      • Draft and deploy rapid response content tied to key moments, including rallies, legislative hearings, and breaking news
      • Track and program content produced by the social media video producer
    • Contribute to cross-platform social strategy for larger, state-wide campaign for healthcare justice
    • Manage a creator partnerships focused on educating New Yorkers on issues related to health justice
    • Monitor analytics across a portfolio of social media accounts and websites; track performance against KPIs and produce monthly reports for clients

    Required Qualifications

    • At least five years of experience working in social media strategy and storytelling
    • Strong understanding of algorithms and metrics of major social media platforms, especially TikTok, but including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter (X). Experience with additional platforms such as Substack, Bluesky, Reddit, and others is a plus.
    • Demonstrated experience in significantly expanding followers and engagement on social media
    • Working knowledge of best practices and software for graphic design and video editing, including Canva, Adobe Suite, Descript, CapCut, and in-app software on TikTok and Instagram
    • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
    • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage many priorities at once
    • Strong interest in progressive politics or advocacy, experience working in the field is a major plus
    • Based in New York State strongly preferred

    Compensation and Structure
