About Us

The Law Office of Heather S. Zakson is a solo practice that focuses exclusively on disability and special education law with primarily low-income and often Spanish-speaking clientele. She provides significant pro-bono assistance and leads free trainings for parents in advocacy, especially those who do not comfortably speak English and are therefore most vulnerable to discrimination by school districts. In 2015, Heather received the Breaking Education Barriers Award from Learning Rights Law Center, recognizing her leadership and accomplishments in the field of Special Education law. She is a loyal volunteer and contributor to Learning Rights Law Center, Harriet Buhai Center for Family Law, and Disability Rights Law Center’s Inland Empire Project, and is a volunteer community mediator. She also gives community presentations on special education and disability rights and teaches classes in the Learning Rights TIGER program.
