    Description

    CSWD is seeking a visionary and strategic leader to serve as our Director of Public Policy, Communications, and Waste Diversion. This role guides a dynamic department that connects policy, public engagement, and data-driven strategies to advance the District’s mission and goals.

    The Director will lead efforts in communications, marketing, outreach, compliance, and safety, while shaping and advancing solid waste policy at the local, state and national levels.

    The Director will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, to research, develop, and analyze strategies that advance the District’s goals through program initiatives, legislative engagement, and regulatory processes.

    The ideal candidate brings strong leadership experience and a demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, and develop staff. They will have a proven track record of collaborating with diverse stakeholders, and the ability to engage, educate, and build strong relationships with state and local officials and legislators. Experience in solid waste management and policy, particularly Extended Producer Responsibility, is preferred.

    The Director will oversee two managers and support waste diversion initiatives grounded in research and data gathered by the Director and their team. This includes analyzing consumer behavior and waste composition to inform outreach strategies, and evaluation of program effectiveness to drive ongoing improvement and measurable results.

    Bachelor’s degree in related field with five to seven years of public policy experience and solid waste management preferred.Starting salary range: $100,000-$125,000
