    Description of Position:

    The Events and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating events and executing community engagement initiatives across the 33rd District. This role oversees all aspects of events, including preparation, logistics, on-site staffing, and post-event follow-up ensuring each event runs smoothly and effectively. As a representative of the Council Office, the Coordinator engages directly with constituents, fostering strong community relationships and serving as a key point of contact at public events. The Coordinator works collaboratively with community partners, volunteers, elected officials’ offices, and government agencies to develop meaningful events. Events may include community tree care initiatives, resource fairs, workshops with City agencies, and canvassing events (including Know Your Rights activities). The Coordinator may also support outreach efforts to build awareness and engagement around key district priorities.

    This position is 20 hours per week, with significant weekend and evening work required. Individuals who are looking for a short term commitment (May 1 - June 30) are encouraged to apply.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Strategically planning, organizing, coordinating, and facilitating events to ensure a seamless and engaging experience for all participants.
    • Managing all event logistics, including guest lists, supplies, programming, and post-event follow-up.
    • Develop and implement creative, effective promotion strategies for events and related initiatives.
    • Coordinating with community partners and other elected official offices on event logistics and planning.
    • Providing on-site event support, including engaging with constituents and connecting them to appropriate office resources.

    Qualifications

    • 2+ years experience in event planning.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and create a welcoming, inclusive environment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Highly organized, with strong project management skills and the ability to keep multiple initiatives on track.
    • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
    • Commitment to political action that is feminist, pro-worker, pro-immigrant, anti-racist and anti-heterosexist; alignment with the core values and policy platform of Lincoln Restler
