About Us

The Voters FIRST Act, approved by CA voters Nov. 2008, shifted the responsibility for redrawing the political boundaries for CA Senate, Assembly, and Board of Equalization districts from the State Legislature to the Commission. Responsibility for drawing the State Congressional lines was approved by voters in Nov. 2010. The Commission was the first citizens-only body redrawing state electoral lines in the US. In 2020, the Commission continues its work to give voice to all of California's diverse communities of interest in drawing electoral lines that place the people's interest first.
