About Us

Change a Life, Become a PAR Adult Literacy Tutor. Partners in Reading (PAR) of the San Jose Public Library matches trained volunteer tutors with English speaking adults who read or write below the high school level. PAR trains volunteers, who meet twice a week at a library with an adult who needs help reading and writing. Many adults struggle to use an ATM, write a check, and read to a child. You can help by becoming a volunteer tutor.

The next tutor orientation is on May 13, 2020. Training is on May 16 and May 23, 2020. All 3 sessions are required. Sign up here. For more information, please call (408) 808-2361. All volunteers must be at least 18 years old and complete fingerprinting.
