The Federal Defense Campaign at the Union of Concerned Scientists

As we prepare for assaults on the hard fought progress we’ve made across all or our issues, UCS’s defense of science and its critical role in shaping policy and strengthening our democracy will be more important than ever before. Every program at UCS will have to fend off changes in policies that threaten public welfare, some arising out of an ignorance or misuse of science, some motivated by ideology, and some designed to serve special interests. Our combination of technical expertise, strategic advocacy, experienced organizing, and savvy communications has made a distinctive and impactful contribution to our fights, and will continue to do so moving forward. 

The activist initiative of the Federal Defense Campaign, the Science Champions, is a unit meant to mobilize activists all over the country in the fight against the attacks on science.
