Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement & Public Service

This program is a partnership between The George Washington University and the DC Public school system that places AmeriCorps VISTA Members in Title I schools throughout the city. AmeriCorps VISTA Members commit to one year of service with the GW/DCPS Partnership. Our VISTA Members leverage resources, as a School-Community Liaison, by building capacity and sustainable infrastructures in three key areas: community partners, community and parent engagement/outreach, and GW resources and capital. We also place VISTA Members in three divisions at DCPS Central Office including; Out of School Time Programs, Office Partnerships and Engagement, and Connected Schools. These members prove to be an integral part of the team by bringing the work that our School-Community Liaison VISTAs do to Central Office, as well as, creating opportunities for that work to shared with other schools and the greater DC community.
