Denton County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC)

About Us

The Denton County Medical Reserve Corps, is a program of the Denton County Health Department, Health Emergency Alert Response Team. Denton County is located in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex and includes both suburban and rural areas. The population is estimated to include approximately 700,000 residents. MRC was put in place to support health emergencies and natural disasters with health implications when local resources are stretched to capacity. The MRC assists with major public health needs and provides shelter support to displaced victims (typically Hurricane victims from the coast). Our unit partners with the CERT, Red Cross, VOAD, a variety of non-profit partners, schools, and Cities and appropriate County responders to develop a coordinated response to a disaster. Our volunteers come from a variety of professional backgrounds including medical, mental health, administrative, corporate and education. The mission of the Denton County Medical Reserve Corps is to assist the local community during a public health emergency by providing a rapid, coordinated and specific response. Our goal is to develop and grow our MRC unit using locally recruited medical, mental health, public health and support volunteers who have been trained to respond as a key partner in Denton County’s emergency response system.
