Councilmember Evan Glass is an At-Large member of the Montgomery County Council. Elected in 2018, he serves on the Transportation and Environment Committee and the Health and Human Services Committee, where he is the Council’s point person for homelessness and vulnerable communities. Councilmember Glass also serves as the Montgomery County Council’s representative on the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments’ National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board and the National Association of Counties’ Transportation Committee and its Large Urban County Caucus. Councilmember Glass is the first LGBTQ+ member of the Montgomery County Council.
During his first term on the Council, Councilmember Glass successfully passed the Montgomery County Pay Equity Act, the LGBTQ Bill of Rights and the Oversight and Small Business Investment Act. He also spearheaded the efforts to expand food composting, make public buses free for all residents under the age of 18, and amend the county’s charter to add two new council districts.
Prior to joining the Council, Glass was a CNN journalist and served as the executive director of Gandhi Brigade Youth Media, an innovative youth-serving after school program.
Glass lives in Silver Spring with his husband Jason and their two rescue beagles, Percy and Daisy.
