Austin Resource Recovery

About Us

Our mission is to achieve Zero Waste by providing excellent customer services that promote waste reduction, increase resource recovery and support the City of Austin's sustainability efforts. Formerly known as Solid Waste Services, Austin Resource Recovery is the City of Austin department that provides residential curbside collection of trash, recycling and yard trimmings. Additional services include sweeping streets, collecting dead animals, operating a drop-off center for household hazardous waste, and collecting bulk items and large brush. Austin Resource Recovery recruits volunteers to serve as Zero Waste Ambassadors. Zero Waste Ambassadors assist with recycling and composting at special events, collecting materials at the City's Household Hazardous Waste Facility, and more! Zero Waste Ambassadors play an integral role in helping Austin reach its Zero Waste goal to reduce the amount of trash sent to landfills by 90% by the year 2040.
