Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office Truancy Prevention Program

  • About Us

The State's Attorney's Office serves the public interest through fair and honest administration of justice by exercising responsibilities to: prosecute criminal violations in Montgomery County; educate the public on criminal-justice issues; train lawyers for future service; address inequality and promote fairness in the criminal justice system; ensure access to the criminal justice system; promote professional relations with judges and attorneys; and further the efficient use of criminal-justice resources.

The State's Attorney's Office Truancy Prevention Program is a voluntary, early intervention program designed to keep children in school and families out of court. It confronts school absenteeism by addressing academic, school, personal and family-related factors. This program is a ten week program operated in conjunction with Montgomery County Public Schools and a network of volunteers. We meet with children to discuss their attendance, their challenges, and their goals.
