    Consisting of islands, salt marshes and woodlands units spread across 70 miles of coastal Connecticut, the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge conserves the habitat of many plant and animal species, some of which are threatened or endangered in this highly developed area of the country. The staff, interns and volunteers of Stewart B. McKinney NWR conduct various biolgical field work across the Connecticut shore and welcome visitors by providing opportunities in wildlife observation, natural and cultural resources interpretation, environmental education, photography, and other uses consistent with the agency's mission and with Federal regulations.
