  • About Us

Similar to Congress at the federal level, the New York City Council is New York City’s legislative body. The Council is separate from the Mayor’s administration but an equal partner in how our City is run.

Taking office in 2010, Council Member Chin is the first and only Asian American woman in NYC Council and proudly represents the neighborhoods of Battery Park City, Chinatown, Civic Center, Financial District, Greenwich Village, Little Italy, the Lower East Side, NoHo, SoHo, South Street Seaport, Tribeca and Governors Island. She has led numerous advocacy efforts, passed legislation and secured historic funding victories for tenants, seniors and immigrant communities across our city.
