    Mission Statement

LRCD’s mission is to provide leadership for the conservation of Albany County’s soil and water, promote and protect the quality of Albany County’s waters, and to promote sustained use of Wyoming’s water and all other natural resources, to preserve and enhance wildlife habitat, protect the tax base and promote the health, safety, and general welfare of the citizens of Albany County through a responsible conservation ethic.

    History

On December 29, 1945, the Laramie Rivers Conservation District was organized under Wyoming State Statues. Four additional areas of Albany County were added to the District between 1948 and 1954. The District did not conform to Albany County boundaries until a fifth addition was made in April of 1984.

The District is responsible for directing conservation programs in Albany County. To promote sustainable use of natural resources in both rural and urban communities, the District Board of Supervisors oversees technical assistance provided by the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS). Additionally, the Board works cooperatively with local input to promote federal, state, and local programs.
