    The Office of Energy and Sustainability (OES) was created within the Department of General Services in 2013 to reduce the impact of Montgomery County, Maryland Operations on the environment. The Office's crosscuts Montgomery County's portfolio of 400+ buildings, fleet, purchasing and other functions critical to maintaining services to a community of nearly one million residents. OES is actively engaging topics such as energy efficiency, greenhouse gas reductions, renewable energy, water, green building, environmental site design, and biodiversity at the local community level.
