  • Mission

The National Park Service is committed to the preservation and protection of natural, cultural, and historic resources, particularly those that are unique, rare, unusual, and/or in danger of extinction or destruction.

    About Us

Incumbent(s) will work mainly in the preparation, mounting, and processing of plant specimens to be stored in our herbarium (plant museum) as vouchers of the plant resources present in the park, and for use by persons who wish to study the park's flora.

A detailed description of the work will be sent to candidates who request it. Logistical issues prevent its attachment to this document.

Desirable traits include patience, meticulousnes, good concentration, and the ability to work alone and idependently. Volunteers selected will be taught the necessary skills. Computer literacy, particularly in the use of spreadsheets and databases (i.e. Microsoft Excel etc.), would be a plus, but is not required.

Interested candidates should communicate directly with michael_byer@nps.gov. All serious questions will be answered. The provision of a phone number in your message is desirable.
