Varner-Hogg Plantation State Historical Site
Mission
Generations of Texas history, commerce and entrepreneurship encapsulate Varner-Hogg Plantation State Historic Site, which tells the stories of the many families, both enslaved and free, who worked to build Texas. Over its 134-year history, the site hosted sugarcane production, cattle ranching, and oil drilling as it transitioned through the ownership of the Varners, the Pattons and the Hoggs.
About Us
Varner-Hogg Plantation is a part of the Texas Historical Commission, real places telling real stories. There are so many ways volunteers can help tell those stories! We have several major events each year, including Hoggtoberfest, Ghosts Along the Brazos, Candlelight Christmas, and Governor Hogg's Easter Egg Hunt. Be a part of special events or help out on a regular schedule -- we'll be happy to see you whenever you can join us!
