About Us

A team of 20 in our downtown Boston office, we represent Canada in the New England states of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont and pursue three main business lines:

1. Trade & Investment:

The Consulate’s Business Development Section, part of Canada’s Trade Commissioner Service, promotes the development of the Canadian economy by building commercial linkages between Canadian clients and local contacts throughout New England.

2. Consular Services:

Canadians living, working and travelling in our territory can run into difficulty. Our consular section assists Canadians who encounter problems that may involve lost passports, arrest and detention, death, illness, child custody or abduction, repatriation, or theft. Consular officers are also available to provide information on matters such as Canadian pensions, notarization, vital statistics, elections, taxation and travel advisories.

3. Foreign Policy and Diplomacy Service (FPDS):

Our FPDS team ensures that Canadian interests in New England are represented on a range of issues such as borders, security, energy and trade policy. We analyze local U.S. political and economic events and trends of interest to Canada. In addition to working collaboratively with U.S. officials and non-governmental organizations on issues of bilateral interest, we serve as a resource for political offices within our territory and as the point of contact for local media. We actively promote the study of Canada and academic exchanges at the region’s many universities and colleges, and provide information on general economic, financial and fiscal developments and policies in Canada and its provinces and territories. In addition, we work to strengthen Canada's profile throughout the region by highlighting Canadian cultural activities and other events that take place in our five-state territory.
