    About Us

We Provide Information to Staff and Public about Natural Resources: Share natural resource information and review plans with county staff. Provide educational opportunities to the public.

Maintain, Protect and Expand Plant Communities: Reduce the competitive advantage of invasive exotic plant species over native plant species. Ensure tree regeneration is sufficient to reach the desired condition of a native sustainable eastern hardwood forest.

Protect and Expand Rare Plants and Rare Plant Communities: Provide protection for threatened, endangered, and sensitive plant species and their habitats. Restore extirpated plant species (and the animals that depend on them) through restoration work.

Protect and Expand Wildlife Habitat: Protect the natural abundance, distribution, and diversity of native animal species within the parks. Monitor for disease and other impacts. Protect habitat of rare and sensitive animal species.

The overall work the unit does also contributes to overall stewardship goals the county has to reduce impacts of climate change, protect water quality and wetlands, and to maintain healthy stable soils.
