PCC Small Business Development Center

About Us

The Portland Community College Small Business Development Center (PCC SBDC) helps individuals start and grow businesses through one-one-business advising at no cost to the business owner and through affordable business education programs. At the core of what we do is economic development for the Portland Metro area by helping businesses become stronger. In 2013, the PCC SBDC worked with 676 business owners through advising and over 2,000 individuals attended business education programs. Last year, our clients created and retained 178 jobs and increased their revenue by $3.4MM. In May 2014, the PCC SBDC was awarded the Oregon and Region 10 (Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska) SBA Award for SBDC of Excellence and Innovation.

There are over 1,000 SBDC’s in the country. They were founded by the Small Business Administration in the late 70s and are typically housed at community colleges and universities to fulfill the mission of providing free business advising to business owners. There are 19 SBDCs in Oregon.
