    The mission of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources is to protect, enhance, preserve, and wisely use natural, cultural, and recreational resources for the benefit of Indiana's citizens through professional leadership, management, and education.

    About Us

    Fort Harrison State Park is a park on Indianapolis' northeast side. Over 1700 acres of prairie, forest, and wetland habitat expand across the park, making Fort Harrison the largest tract of forest in central Indiana. Visitors enjoy exercising, hiking, biking, fishing, picnicking, and viewing nature. Fort Harrison is also unique because of the military history -- from 1906 to 1996, Fort Ben Harrison was an active army base, providing trainings to young men and women throughout its time.
