About Us
The Appalachian Council of Governments’ Long Term Care Ombudsman Program covers six counties including: Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, Oconee, Pickens and Cherokee. Volunteers are needed and welcomed from each area.
Do you want to make a difference in the community?
Become a Volunteer Ombudsman in a long term care facility and make a difference in the lives of long-term care residents.
Volunteer Ombudsmen make unannounced friendly visits to designated long term care facilities on a weekly or biweekly basis. During their visits volunteers listen to and interact with the residents. Volunteer Ombudsmen work with residents to communicate concerns and provide support and empowerment. The Volunteer Ombudsman can assist residents by being their voice and with their permission, work hand in hand with the facility staff to resolve issues.
