We All Belong AmeriCorps Program

Vermont’s population is becoming more diverse and reflective of a global citizenry. The We All Belong Program works with Burlington area non-profits, schools and city departments to help create inclusive workplaces and to offer more culturally competent services, events and programming for Burlington’s increasingly diverse community. The City of Burlington seeks to address issues of race and gender inequity by making organizational shifts in programs and services. AmeriCorps* State members support these shifts by serving with a participating agency as a full or part-time volunteer.

The We All Belong AmeriCorps*State Program, a division of The City of Burlington’s Community and Economic Development Office, provides an opportunity to put ideas into action while learning practical skills and making new connections in the local community. This AmeriCorps State Program provides member with the opportunity to work within one of our 15 or more participating organizations. AmeriCorps members work on specific projects to help their individual organization achieve their equity goals. Members engage with the community through their host organization and gain hands on experience in initiating social justice reform. Participants have the opportunity to play a catalyzing role in a larger change process. Applicants to the program are not expected to be an expert on diversity and equity topics.

Our ideal AmeriCorps member is someone who has the ability to communicate effectively across cultures, is passionate about advocating for social justice reform, and has experience working with marginalized populations. The program is particularly interested in recruiting individuals who have had experience accessing services in a community in which these resources are not always visible to the demographics they serve.
