The Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum was founded in 1973 to collect, preserve and exhibit the history of the railroads and local history of Central Texas. The museum is housed in a restored 1911 Santa Fe depot. Exhibits cover regional history, the history of railroading, and the railroad's impact on life and technology in our area and beyond. The museum also displays several important pieces of railroad equipment and maintains one of the largest railroad-related archives in the country. Programs and exhibits are designed for visitors of all ages.
