    The Department of Youth Services provides positive learning experiences for youth that will promote a sense of self worth and community involvement. The department also advocates for youth issues on a local, regional and state-wide level.

    The Department of Youth Services is a municipal agency established in 1971. It has played an integral role in the Town’s effort to maintain a high quality of life for our young people and their families.

    The Department of Youth Services provides therapeutic counseling, several positive youth development programs and outreach services to help meet the needs of East Hartford’s youth and their families.

    Youth Services runs a challenge/ropes course that is used for a variety of its programming. Experiential educators, adventure specialist, and challenge course/ropes facilitators work closly with the Program Coordinator and Outreach Coordinator to build and run effective positive youth development programing all year.
