  • Mission

To provide quality patient care and safe emergency transportation to the sick and injured of our community.

    About Us

The Stratford Emergency Medical Service was established in December of 1977 by the Town of Stratford (Connecticut) to provide emergency medical services to its community. We provide 24 hour coverage, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We are a municipal, "third service" EMS that responds to approximately 7,100 calls each year. Stratford EMS is more than an ambulance service; we are an innovator in the field of emergency medical services. Stratford EMS was one of the first services in the nation to adopt and use semi-automatic external defibrillators, serving as the pilot site for the state of Connecticut in 1986. In 1996, we became the first volunteer paramedic service in New England, and we remain so today. In 1997, we established one of the nation's first medical bike units and Special Operations Divisions. We strive to maintain a progressive and cutting edge approach to EMS provision. We also have one of the largest and most active Explorer Posts in CT.

We are an award winning service with state-of-the-art and safe equipment, vehicles and facilities. We take great pride in recognizing our staff for high performance and we participate in the annual, Presidential Volunteer Service Award program.
