Smith-Welch Memorial Library

  • Mission

The mission of the Smith-Welch Memorial Library is to provide diverse and easily accessible materials, services and programs to educate, inform, enrich and entertain all the residents of Hearne and Robertson County. The Smith-Welch Memorial Library seeks to make available the broadest possible spectrum of information and ideas, through a variety of formats, including print and electronic.

The Library is a member of the Central Texas Library System and as such has access to all TexShare Databases. The databases are accessed through the Internet at the Library, or from a patron's home or business with the use of a remote password. Our card catalog is made available through an online-networked database. As a member of the Library, patrons will be able to use the Interlibrary Loan services.

Because service to all age groups is the function of the Library, materials and programs are provided to meet the needs and interests of each group. We place emphasis on supplying adults with current reading materials. The Library strives to satisfy the developmental needs of children and young adults. It works closely with parents and cooperates with the various school districts and teachers. We especially recognize our responsibility to serve as a place for children to discover the joy of reading and the value libraries.
