About Us

The Mission of the Office of Inspector General is to prevent and detect fraud and abuse, and to promote efficiency and effectiveness in the programs and operations of the City of New Orleans.

The OIG accomplishes its mission through research and data collection, audits, inspections, evaluations and investigations. OIG draft reports are sent to the responsible management officials for comment, and then are released to the public. The OIG also refers evidence of fraud to prosecutors and makes recommendations concerning pending legislation and regulations.
