  • About Us

Pima County serves more than 1 million people and its 9,200 square miles are larger than New Jersey, featuring some of the most spectacular landscapes in Arizona, from deserts covered in towering saguaro cacti to towering mountains covered in thick ponderosa pines. One of those mountains is home to the country’s most southern ski slopes, just a short hour-long drive from the University of Arizona. Governed by our elected Board of Supervisors, Pima County is divided into several functional/operational areas including Administration, Justice and Law Enforcement, Public Defense, Public Works, Public Safety, Health and Community Services. We have over 50 different departments with a variety of missions, roles and responsibilities. We have more than 6,000 employees in over 640 different job classifications. Accountants, doctors, lawyers, researchers, social workers, detectives, machinists, lab techs, engineers, librarians, teachers, mechanics, equipment operators, geographers, electricians, coders, computer techs, and more all work for Pima County. Your future starts here.
