The Athens-Clarke County Library (ACCL) serves as an important afterschool location for many teens and pre-teens from area schools, especially those without other afterschool or childcare options. The ACCL Teen Services department supports the needs of these students by creating a positive and safe environment, and by offering programs to support their educational and social development. Our programs cover a diverse range of topics, including literacy, art, STEM, social justice, and life skills; they are developed and led by library staff, or through partnerships with local community organizations and volunteers. The library’s support of community teens is also accomplished through outreach programs, involving visits to local schools, clubs, organizations, or other community gathering places.
