    Description

    Temporary / Interim | Hybrid | Downtown | $40–$50+ an hour

We are partnering with an established educational nonprofit organization seeking an experienced Director of Communications & Marketing to step into a key interim leadership role while the organization evaluates its long-term needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned communications professional who is currently available and enjoys being both strategic and hands-on. You’ll work closely with the Executive Director and have responsibility for the organization’s overall communications and marketing efforts.

    What You’ll Be Doing:

    • Lead the organization’s communications and marketing strategy
    • Manage social media and strengthen the organization’s digital presence
    • Maintain and update the website, particularly around upcoming programs and events
    • Develop messaging and promotional materials for fundraising events, meetings, and organizational initiatives
    • Support and attend key events, including fundraising functions and board-related meetings
    • Work directly with the Executive Director and communicate effectively with board members
    • Help leadership understand evolving communications strategies and the importance of social media and digital engagement

    Who We’re Looking For:

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of communications leadership experience, preferably within a nonprofit, education, association, or similarly mission-driven environment.

This is a hands-on position without dedicated support staff, so we’re looking for someone equally comfortable developing communications strategy and rolling up their sleeves to update the website, create content, manage social media, and support events.

The position will be hybrid, generally requiring 1–2 days per week in the office, along with attendance at important organizational events. Advance notice will be provided for scheduled events so you can plan accordingly.

Compensation: Approximately $40–$50+ per hour, depending on experience. If the opportunity sounds like a strong fit but your compensation expectations are outside this range, please don’t let that prevent you from reaching out—we’re happy to have a conversation.

If you have the appropriate background and are currently available, I’d love to connect. Please send me your resume, and we can discuss the organization, the role, and any questions you may have.

And if someone in your network comes to mind, please feel free to share this opportunity with them.

    Benefits

If you are not working and have the right experience, we should speak about this role.

This position does not have a specific end date at this time, Idealist needs an end date. It should be viewed as an open ended position.
