    Salary Range $226,000 - $269,000 annually

Based in Minnesota, Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies (MACP) is the umbrella over the grantmaking foundations created by the late Margaret Cargill: Margaret A. Cargill Foundation and Anne Ray Foundation. In keeping with Ms. Cargill's direction, MACP develops and implements integrated grantmaking strategies across seven domains: Animal Welfare, Arts & Culture, Disaster Relief & Recovery, Environment, Legacy & Opportunity, Quality of Life, and Teachers & Students.

Our mission is to provide meaningful assistance and support to society, the arts, and the environment.

Our grant-making approach is anchored in providing meaningful support through long-term relationships with strategic grantee partners to make a meaningful, measurable, and sustainable difference on priority problems within our domains. The two foundations have separate boards and investment portfolios but share a common mission. Margaret A. Cargill Foundation is a private foundation that came into existence upon Ms. Cargill's death in August 2006. At year-end 2024, MACF's assets are approximately $3.53 billion. Anne Ray Foundation is a supporting organization, which may make grants only to beneficiary organizations specifically named by Ms. Cargill. At year-end 2024, ARF's assets are approximately $4.97 billion. In 2024, total grants were over $313 million. The collective assets of MACP place it among the 10 largest philanthropies in the United States.

We are now seeking a passionate, experienced and inspiring Program Director to lead our Environment Program, which aims to conserve and sustain terrestrial, freshwater, and marine ecosystems for the benefit of current and future generations. The Program Director, Environment, will lead and manage the Environment domain, collaborating closely with the domain's core team of four Program Officers and Program Associate(s), along with Managing Director, Programs, Vice President, Programs, and staff from other program and functional areas in MACP, all toward building, managing, and evaluating an effective grantmaking domain.

The successful candidate will bring a relevant track record of managing highly skilled teams, experience and credibility working in strategic philanthropy, and extensive knowledge and experience in international and domestic community-led conservation and environment programming.
