    Description

    The Choice is seeking an immediate Administrative Assistant for a private, Catholic high school. It is a very well-regarded institution with a nice campus in downtown DC.

    The position will work in the Office of Student Services. It interfaces frequently with students, faculty, and parents regarding attendance, disciplinary, and student support needs.

    Because this staffing need is starting mid-school year, this will be a contract position likely until their permanent hiring cycle next year. There is potential for a temporary to hire scenario if this is a good fit and the ideal candidate will be seeking a temporary to hire scenario down the road.

    Schedule: 8:15AM-2:45PM, Monday-Friday, fully in person (approximately 30 hours a week). Upcoming school closures will include: 10/24, 11/11, 11/26-11/30, 12/5, 12/20-1/4 for holidays. This person will not work when the school is closed.

    Salary: This is an hourly role. $30 an hour.

    Job Duties:

    The Administrative Assistant will provide essential support for the daily operations of the Office of Student Services, focusing primarily on managing student attendance, record keeping, scheduling appointments, and handling phone calls with parents. This role requires a composed, detail-oriented, organized, and friendly individual who can maintain confidentiality and professionalism while interacting with students, staff, and parents. Job duties will include:

    • Record and track student attendance data accurately using the designated school database or software.
    • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student absences, tardiness, and early dismissals.
    • Manage and maintain the calendar for Office of Student Services staff, including meetings with school counselors and administrators.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all incoming phone calls to the Office of Student Services.
    • Answer general inquiries, direct calls to the appropriate staff member, and take accurate messages.
    • Maintain a professional and helpful demeanor on the phone at all times.
    • Perform general clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and data entry.
    • Assist with special projects and events as assigned by the Student Services Director.
    • Processing student identification cards and access badges.
    • Maintain a clean and organized office environment.

    Qualifications:

    • Completed Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Previous experience working in school administration (at least two years) highly preferred.
    • Fluent in Microsoft Office. Previous experience using a school database would be helpful. Blackbaud experience would be great
    • Friendly, confident, personable, organized, and highly professional demeanor
