    Careers In Nonprofits is actively recruiting for a current Federal Grants & Program Manager opening with a nonprofit organization in the DC/MD area. This is a full-time, temporary assignment for an experienced grants professional who can step in quickly and help keep federally funded programs, deliverables, and reporting on track.

    Location: DC/MD area

    Work Arrangement: Hybrid, with up to 2 days per week on-site

    Schedule: Full-time

    Duration: Approximately 2–3 months

    Pay Rate: $50–$54/hour

    Start: As soon as possible

    How You’ll Spend Your Day

    In this role, you’ll help keep federally funded work organized, compliant, and moving forward. Your responsibilities may include:

    • Managing federal grants, cooperative agreements, and related program activities.
    • Tracking grant deliverables, deadlines, reporting requirements, and documentation.
    • Interpreting federal funding requirements and translating them into clear action steps for internal teams.
    • Coordinating across program, finance, operations, and leadership teams.
    • Reviewing grant budgets, expenditures, and financial documentation.
    • Preparing funder reports, performance updates, and required submissions.
    • Supporting grant applications, renewals, and other funding opportunities.
    • Tracking program milestones, outcomes, risks, and outstanding priorities.
    • Maintaining accurate project and grant information in internal systems and reporting tools.
    • Supporting preparation for funder monitoring and other oversight activities.
    • Improving grant-management processes, workflows, and internal procedures.
    • Identifying opportunities to make project management and reporting more efficient.

    Our Ideal Candidate

    We’re keeping the list short. You could be a strong fit if you have:

    • 3+ years of hands-on experience with federal grants or federally funded programs.
    • Familiarity with federal grant requirements, reporting, compliance, and the grant lifecycle.
    • Strong project management and organizational skills.
    • The ability to communicate clearly and work effectively across teams.
    • Experience with nationally-focused federally funded nonprofit programs.
