The Math Learning Center (MLC) is a non-profit education organization with a track record of developing high-quality mathematics materials, including Bridges in Mathematics curriculum. We create programs that engage students, promote classroom community and discourse, and help more than 80,000 elementary teachers across the country deliver effective mathematics instruction.

Are you a collaborative Media Producer who is passionate about education? If so, this position might be right for you. At MLC, you will create and oversee the development, production, and delivery of high-quality video, audio, and multimedia productions, working collaboratively with the production department, subject matter experts, marketing team, and other partners. As a member of the publishing team, you will collaborate with our subject matter experts to produce high-quality media that connect us to our customers and inspire the math education community.

This is an onsite role based out of our studio in Portland, Oregon. Travel is a fun part of this role, with a few national trips throughout the year (6-20% of the position).

    What you will do:

    • Oversee and manage all aspects of media production projects from concept to completion, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and deadline targets.
    • Design and create compelling projects that highlight MLC’s curriculum offerings, education approaches, and impact on educators’ and students’ ability to make sense of mathematics.
    • Work with internal stakeholders to plan, record, produce, and publish Rounding Up, MLC's monthly math education podcast.
    • Lead video and audio production processes, including planning, scheduling, filming or recording, editing, and post-production, to ensure high production values.
    • Record audio, video, and photography in MLC's studio or on location at events and partner schools.
    • Cut and post-produce video and audio content, manage media/data, prepare B-roll, sync video and audio, edit footage, and add graphics, captions, and effects. Provide synced proofs to internal stakeholders and work collaboratively with stakeholders to make cuts and edits.
    • Create or oversee creation of short, animated videos, from artwork to finished piece.
    • Collaborate with IT and project stakeholders to establish and maintain a video and audio storage, editing, and proofing system in alignment with industry standards and MLC’s processes.
    • Oversee the work of independent contractors, including onboarding, assigning projects, setting expectations, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality content aligned with organizational standards.

    How you are qualified:

    • Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
    • Three or more years of experience in media production.
    • Experience in producing content for a variety of audiences and platforms.
    • Experience managing media projects involving multiple contributors and stakeholders.
    • A valid insurable Driver’s License is required.
    • Expert knowledge of production techniques and equipment, including digital media platforms and editing software.
    • Expertise in Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, After Effects, and Camtasia.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, and Adobe Acrobat.
    • Familiarity with podcast recording and distribution services, web content management systems, and video proxy editing systems.

We offer our employees an excellent work environment that includes:

    • An emphasis on collaboration, with all staff expected to participate in achieving organizational goals.
    • A dedicated team of mission-driven professionals passionate about math education.
    • Competitive pay and benefits.
