Want to apply your AI skills to meaningful real-world impact?

Common Threads Project (CTP) is seeking an AI-proficient student to help design how AI is used responsibly inside a nonprofit working with survivors of gender-based violence and trauma.

This is not a model-training role.

It’s about building applied AI systems, workflows, and governance frameworks inside a mission-driven organization.

    About CTP

CTP works at the intersection of art and trauma healing. Through culturally responsive group therapy and community partnerships, we support individuals and communities affected by violence, displacement, and systemic inequality.

As nonprofits adopt AI tools, we’re building structured systems to:

    • Strengthen grant strategy and research
    • Improve operational efficiency
    • Expand outreach
    • Establish responsible AI governance

    What You’ll Do

Applied AI Systems & Workflow Design

    • Structure internal datasets (grants, donor feedback, research)
    • Refine prompt frameworks for proposals and communications
    • Evaluate AI outputs using human-in-the-loop review
    • Identify AI-assisted workflow efficiencies across platforms (Google Workspace, CRM, email tools)

    Responsible AI Implementation

    • Research nonprofit AI governance best practices
    • Draft AI usage policies and risk guidelines
    • Help design lightweight review and compliance frameworks
    • Contribute to a phased AI adoption roadmap

    Ideal Candidate

    • Comfortable using LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini)
    • Interested in AI ethics and real-world implementation
    • Strong analytical and writing skills
    • Able to work independently
    • Professional and discreet (we handle sensitive material)

    Fields of study may include:

CS, Data Science, AI/ML, Public Policy, Information Systems, Ethics & Tech, or similar.

    What You’ll Gain

    • Hands-on experience implementing AI in a live organization
    • Exposure to philanthropic strategy and grant decision-making
    • Experience designing AI governance frameworks
    • Executive-level mentorship
    • Strong reference for AI policy or applied AI roles

    To apply:

Send resume + 1-page statement of interest to info@commonthreadsproject.org

(Optional: sample of AI-assisted or policy work)

If you want to use AI to build systems that matter — not just tools — we’d love to hear from you.
