    Description

    Everytown for Gun Safety, the nation’s largest gun violence prevention organization, is seeking a Summer 2026 Everytown Labs Intern. Everytown Labs is an innovation hub within Everytown For Gun Safety Support Fund that accelerates promising technology, including artificial intelligence, to support our gun safety mission. In this role, the Intern will contribute to researching new technologies, leveraging AI to surface new insights on gun violence and policies, developing our digital products, and providing technical expertise to the team.

    Location: New York City (hybrid) 3 days/week in office, 2 days/week at home.)

    Schedule: 40 hours/week

    Internship Duration: May 26 to Aug 14 (12 weeks)

    The minimum hourly rate for this role is $18.00.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    You will work closely with the senior director of Everytown Labs and members of the Everytown Labs team on various activities to support our work. Some examples:

    • Support improvements to our existing AI-powered digital products, e.g.
      • Write code to help upgrade key features
      • Work on minor bug fixes and enhancements
      • Document technical specifications and processes
    • Help with weekly vetting of gun violence data and automating manual processes to keep our AI-powered digital products up-to-date
    • Draft blog posts for our Everytown Labs website, highlighting insights from our AI-powered digital products.

    Qualifications:

    • Current enrollment in college studies, including computer science-related courses
    • Experience working with any AI coding tools is a plus, even at a beginner level
    • Basic understanding of APIs or willingness to learn how to integrate data sources using API documentation
    • Interest in use of AI for good
    • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Good communication skills in presenting work to a non-technical audience
    • Interest in nonprofit advocacy organizations.

    About the Hiring Process

    We are accepting applications on a rolling basis and will review them and reach out to the candidates who meet the requirements of the position.

    • Candidates must submit a resume AND a cover letter (max 1 page) to be considered
    • Candidates moved into the recruitment process will be invited to a 30-minute phone interview with a member of the hiring team.
    • Candidates who advance to the final stage of the recruitment process will participate in a 30-45 minute virtual interview with the Director of Everytown Labs.
