Description
The Dyslexia Alliance for Black Children (DABC) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Development Intern to support fundraising, research, and organizational development efforts. This internship is ideal for students or emerging professionals interested in nonprofit management, fundraising, education, public policy, literacy, or social impact work.
The Development Intern will work closely with DABC leadership to identify funding opportunities, support grant development, and assist with individual giving initiatives.
Responsibilities
Grant Research and Writing
- Research foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities
- Assist with gathering information for grant proposals and reports
- Draft sections of grant applications and letters of inquiry
- Maintain grant tracking spreadsheets and deadlines
Individual Giving Campaigns
- Support planning and implementation of donor outreach campaigns
- Research prospective donors and funding partners
- Assist with donor communications and stewardship activities
- Help organize fundraising materials and donor records
Research and Organizational Development
- Conduct research related to literacy, dyslexia, education, and nonprofit trends
- Gather data and supporting documentation for funding proposals
- Assist with special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned
- Support development of presentations, reports, and resource materials
Qualifications
Preferred:
- Current undergraduate student, graduate student, or recent graduate
- Interest in nonprofit development, fundraising, education, literacy, public policy, or social impact
- Strong written communication and research skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
Required:
- Reliable internet access
- Personal computer or device capable of completing remote work
- Ability to commit approximately 5–10 hours per week
