    Description

    Summary

The Human Rights program involves collaborating with Tanzanian human rights professionals. It focuses on the rights of children, women, people with disabilities, and sexual and reproductive rights. Students can also choose a research or thesis focus for the program.

    Details

Art in Tanzania has been operating since 1996. Our community placements attract about 250 participants annually. Our vision is to give students hands-on experience working in developing communities in Africa. In addition to your studies, you will have an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience of African culture and life, as well as fantastic natural scenery and wildlife.

The Human Rights program focuses on Children's and Women's Rights. We will also handle other legal tasks, depending on the participant's preferred focus. Our Rights team comprises private Tanzanians, such as lawyers, other rights-oriented citizens, and participating interns and volunteers.

Practical work includes advocacy, attending seminars, teaching, and gaining visibility. Rights issues are always sensitive, and teamwork and networking are essential.

A consortium of Tanzanian NGOs, including UNICEF, Save the Children, and others, developed and ran the Children's Agenda program, chaired by the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, and Children.

We use our social media pages for advocacy work. Our Facebook pages have over 50,000 followers.

Work hours are 6 to 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

The program is ongoing, so the start dates are adjustable. Your placement is tailored to your background, experience, and interests, empowering our daily work with the communities.

Daily tasks include practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility work.

The start and end dates are flexible, as all programs are ongoing, with many having run since 1996.

You and your visiting friends can enjoy low-cost, sustainable safaris and tours.

We typically have 15–40 students from diverse parts of the world, representing over 400 universities with which we collaborate and various professions.

Note that Erasmus+ funding can be applied for the training in Tanzania. You can ask your student office about the grant options.
