    This is a part time role -10 hours per week with the benefit of work experience, professional development or college credit for the 3 months. There is a possibility for extension up to 6 months.

    Description

    The Communications team brings Fairplay’s vision of childhood to life through storytelling and strategy that catalyze attention and support for our work. The team is seeking a Communications Intern to help steward strategic communications and branding for Fairplay. Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Communications Director, with support from the Communications Coordinator, the Intern will assist the team in various aspects of its work.

    Responsibilities

    • Media Monitoring --- Find relevant news stories, clip them, and keep track of stories and journalists
    • Assist in designing and posting social media content and tracking social media analytics
    • Track and report on website analytics
    • Write and help design content for weekly and monthly newsletters and website posts
    • Upload and organize photos to shared drive
    • Support development of new website and new branding
    • Assist with crisis communications by posting and sharing information
    • Monitor and update Salesforce email lists, as needed
    • Ability to meet regularly with communications staff
    • Other duties as assigned by the Communications Director

    Qualifications

    • Experience writing, designing, editing, proofreading, and creating content.
    • Active enrollment in or completion of a university or similar educational program in Communication, Journalism, Information Studies, Media Studies, Social Science, or any related field;
    • Interest in the field of communication and branding.
    • Strong communications skills: excellent listening skills and empathy, ability to write clearly and concisely
    • Proficiency in Google Suite and other related software.
    • experience in social media.
    • Prior experience in the social development sector including non-profit assignments or other internships, is an asset.
    • Ability to adapt to new environments and to establish and maintain good working relations with individuals of different cultural backgrounds.
    • Integrity: exercising the appropriate discretion when working with confidential and sensitive matters and information
