    Description

    This is a part-time 15/hr week position. This will be a hybrid position based in Minneapolis.

    Position Summary:

    This internship supports the visibility and engagement of OIC of America’s STEM programming through social media, marketing, and communications support.

    The intern will help tell the story of STEM programming across cities, support event promotion, and ensure consistent communication with participants and partners.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Social Media Management

      • Create and schedule organic content for STEM programs and events
      • Capture and highlight program moments (photos, videos, recaps)
      • Support consistent posting across platforms
      • Perform community management duties across platforms to grow audience and engagement

    Event Marketing Support

      • Assist in promoting STEM Saturdays and STEMFests
      • Support flyer distribution and digital promotion
      • Assist with email communications and reminders

    Content Development & Storytelling

      • Develop short-form content (event recaps, highlights, student stories)
      • Support storytelling that connects STEM to careers and impact
      • Assist with capturing content during events (if on-site)

    Communications Support

      • Assist with drafting emails, announcements, and updates
      • Support coordination with communications team

    Capstone / Final Project

    Develop a STEM Communications Toolkit, which may include:

      • Sample social media calendar
      • Content templates
      • Event promotion framework
      • Recommendations for improving engagement

    Qualifications:

    Compensation:

    The hourly wage for this internship is 21.00/hr for a 15-hour work week for this non-exempt position.

    ADA Specifications:

    • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
    • Ability to learn/translate/refer to technical material and produce extensive written communications.
    • Ability to travel to external meetings both locally and nationally, including periodic overnight travel.
    • Normal work requires frequent use of the telephone and computer (monitor, keyboard, mouse).
    • Ability to be mobile at meetings and events.
    • May be required to move about frequently in the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, attend meetings, etc.
    • May require standing/sitting for prolonged periods of time during meetings and conferences.
    • Must be able to communicate in large gatherings and conduct information sessions with technology so others will understand.
