    About Sunsar Maya

Sunsar Maya is a nonprofit helping vulnerable women and children in Nepal build pathways out of poverty through education, mental health, and community-based programs. We operate community centers in Nepal and are a small, close-knit team where every individual makes a meaningful difference.

    About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Development Manager to grow our major donor program and support individual/corporate giving. You will work closely with the Executive Director and Development Director, building on existing fundraising strategies while bringing fresh ideas and new approaches to expand our donor base and deepen engagement. This is an autonomous, remote role for a self-starter with a proven track record in major gifts.

    What You’ll Do

    • Identify new individual and major donor prospects and manage a fundraising portfolio with a focus on 5- and 6-figure gifts.
    • Develop and implement prospect engagement and donor management strategies, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, while working closely with the ED and Development Director.
    • Cultivate and steward existing donors through personal outreach, impact updates, proposals, and acknowledgment communications.
    • Provide strategy and support for building a corporate donor program.
    • Provide hands-on support for the ED to manage relationship building and donor stewardship.
    • Prepare written materials such as proposals, reports, direct asks, and acknowledgement letters.
    • Track all activity in a donor database; maintain accurate records of all donor/prospect interactions and strategies for future engagement.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 5+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience with a proven track record securing major gifts.
    • A skilled relationship-builder and communicator who works well independently and asynchronously.
    • Experience working with donor CRM systems and managing donor data.
    • Passion for Sunsar Maya’s mission and a commitment to ethical, donor-centered fundraising.

    Even Better If You…

    • Experience fundraising for an international nonprofit or organization working in global development is strongly preferred, but not required
    • Familiarity with Nepal, Asia, or children’s/women’s empowerment programming.
    • Prior experience in a small or growing nonprofit where you've had to build systems from the ground up.

    Salary, Hours, and Information

This is a fully remote contract position of approximately 20 hours per week. While you have flexibility in when you work, you must be available and responsive during Sunsar Maya team working hours twice a week (Monday/Thursday mornings Pacific time). Salary is $30–$35/hour, commensurate with experience. This is an independent contractor position.
