    Olney Community Collaborative (OCC) is a community development corporation purposed to implement revitalizing initiatives in Olney, Fern Rock and adjacent neighborhoods that cultivate community connectivity and resilience, encourage economic growth, and foster a safe, welcoming neighborhood by:

    1. improving and maintaining the streetscape;
    2. increasing public safety;
    3. supporting existing small businesses and attracting new, viable economic uses; and
    4. fostering community connectedness.

    OCC uses the principles and practices of the Main Street Four Point Approach ™ to foster the goals of neighborhood and commercial corridor revitalization, growth and vitality in our service area.

    The Corridor Outreach Manager is a full time position and works in concert with the OCC Team to share and implement the organization’s work. Each of the Corridor Managers have specific responsibilities for their assigned corridor, and report to the Executive Director. Corridor Managers also work with the other OCC team members to implement OCC’s Olney +Fern Rock Community Plan.

    Corridor Manager’s position roles & responsibilities include:

    • Connect with business owners on assigned commercial corridors, and residents in the immediate neighborhoods.
    • Develop and maintain data systems to track engagement/interactions, conditions, and activity on the commercial corridor
    • Provide technical assistance to business owners including assisting with (and their property owner) applications to programs provided by city, state, federal, private and nonprofit agencies.
    • Support OCC’s Project + Events Manager with related corridor activity including special projects and neighborhood events.
    • Work with OCC’s Executive Director to identify, write, and manage grants and other incentives for special projects.
    • Assist with preparing quarterly and annual reports.
    • Work with the local Police Department to track public safety concerns expressed by business owners and residents.
    • Attend regular community meetings hosted by local community organizations, block captains, and neighborhood advocates.
    • Coordinate and promote events, community meetings, business association meetings, and unique activities.
    • Attend trainings, professional development workshops, and professional peer learning sessions hosted by OCC and partners.
    • Enhance relationships with existing partner organizations.
    • Coordinate partnership opportunities with other corridors in the City, and market these assets through City and State tourism vehicles and other means.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one (1) year of professional experience or education in one or more of the following areas: business administration, community and economic development, marketing, urban design, journalism, urban planning, or communications. Volunteer/intern work experience will be considered in lieu of paid work experience.

    Additional skills and experience preferred for this position:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Project management and implementation skills, time management, and organizational skills, including attention to detail and abilities to prioritize assignments, identify sub-tasks and keep multiple assignments moving simultaneously.
    • Demonstrated experience working with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access), QuickBooks (or other bookkeeping software), Microsoft Publisher (or other desktop publishing software), Constant Contact, X, Facebook, Instagram, Flickr or other photo management software.

    Qualifications:

    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Bi-lingual (proficiency in English and Spanish)
    • Excellent constituent empowerment and coalition-building skills.
    • Proven experience in recruiting and managing volunteers.
    • Ability to perform manual labor under all types of weather conditions.
    • Work well with the public and with diverse groups of people including limited English proficiency speakers.

    The following skills and experience are especially desirable:

    • Experience in public speaking, group facilitation, public relations and fundraising.
    • Small businesses or entrepreneurial experience.
    • Fluency in Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, or French.
    • A Bachelor's Degree in any of the above mentioned or related fields is preferred.

    Hours:

    This position requires 40 hours per week. OCC’s standard office hours are 10am - 6pm, Monday-Friday. Hours are subject to change due to required evening meetings and weekend events.

    Compensation:

    The position will be compensated at $50,000 per annum. The position includes a competitive leave package.
