    Description

    About Us

Congressional Communities is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) civic engagement platform working to make representation in Congress more meaningful. Our model arranges the country's 435 congressional districts into roughly 7,400 community-anchored sub-districts, “Congressional Communities”. This structure will make it possible for constituents to organize, connect, and be better heard by their representatives and district staff. We make individuals aware of existing local organizations by location and issue, and we measure engagement in constituent time, not campaign dollars.

We're looking for a Social Media Manager to help us build an audience that matches the purpose of our mission.

    The Role

We need someone who can own our social media presence end-to-end. We’re looking for someone who can think strategically about how we grow and engage an audience around civic engagement and representation. You'll help set direction as much as you'll execute it, working alongside our podcast producer and web development team to keep everything we publish connected.

    What you'll do:

    • Develop and drive social media strategy across our core platforms, including channel priorities, content themes, and growth goals
    • Review, edit, and suggest improvements to content created by others on the team, keeping voice and quality consistent
    • Have the ability to create complementary content
    • Build and grow our following with an eye toward engagement quality, not just follower count
    • Plan and manage a content calendar, and adapt it in response to what's resonating
    • Track performance and use analytics to inform what we do next
    • Engage with our community, including replying to comments/messages, spotting opportunities to join relevant conversations, etc.
    • Coordinate with our podcast producer to promote episodes across social channels, repurpose content (clips, quotes, guest highlights), and look for opportunities to do collaborative posts
    • Work with our web development team to keep social links, embeds, and on-site content in sync with what's being promoted
    • Collaborate with our team on messaging around events, campaigns, and platform milestones

    What We're Looking For

    • A track record of growing a social media following you can point to (portfolio, case study, or specific examples)
    • Comfort operating strategically, not just executing a content calendar, so you can explain why a piece of content or approach worked
    • Strong writing and editing skills, with a good ear for tone
    • Familiarity with the major platforms (Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok) and their analytics tools
    • Genuine interest in civic engagement, government, or nonprofit/mission-driven work. We’re not asking for someone with a policy background, but you should care about the “why”
    • Self-directed and comfortable working part-time/remotely with a small, distributed team
    • DC or Capitol Hill communications/social media experience is a plus, but not required

    Benefits

Paid Time Off (PTO)/Vacation and Sick Days, accrued on a pro-rata basis

    Level of Language Proficiency

    English

    Location

    Remote
Work can be performed from anywhere in United States
