    Description

    Sacred Valley Health is seeking an enthusiastic, bilingual Development Officer to manage fund development, grant writing and reporting, and donor stewardship for a small, grass-roots public health organization based in rural Peru. Sacred Valley Health has a diverse and fairly established revenue stream comprised of individual donors, foundations, and earned income. The ideal candidate for this remote, contract position is fluent in English and Spanish, experienced in fundraising, and passionate about helping a small community-based organization grow and diversify its funding efforts.

    • Reports to: Executive Director, Fund Development Committee

    Key Responsibilities

    • Grant writing:
      • Communicate with ED/programming team to be informed on funding needs and programs
      • Prospect for good-fit grant opportunities
      • Research potential foundations and donors (with a focus on US opportunities/English-language applications)
      • Write grant proposals (warming letters, LOIs, applications) for funding opportunities based on program plans and budgets received from ED and programming team
      • Maintain SVH grants tracker (grants calendar, prospects, etc)
      • Communicate with the website and social media coordinator on any news announcements to share on any or all SVH social media platforms
      • With Board Fund Development Committee, attend scheduled Fund Development meetings to collaborate on funding strategies and provide updates on grants work
      • Coordinate grant reporting, including informing staff of reporting deadlines, gathering necessary input from appropriate team members (M&E Director, program managers, ED, Finance Manager, etc.) in a timely fashion and synthesizing information into a compelling grant report per the funder's guidelines
    • Donor stewardship
      • Maintain donor database (Little Green Light)
      • Draft quarterly donor communications (program updates, fundraising emails, etc)
    • Fundraising
      • Work with the Fund Development Committee and ED to plan and support mid-year and end-of-year fundraising campaigns
      • Track donations
      • Send gift acknowledgement emails and charitable giving receipts

    Required Qualifications

    1. Native or bilingual fluency in written and spoken English, with exceptional, professional-level written English skills required for drafting grant proposals, letters of inquiry, donor communications, and reports for U.S.-based foundations and donors.
    2. Fluency or advanced professional proficiency in written and spoken Spanish, sufficient to collaborate effectively with Peru-based, Spanish-speaking staff to gather program plans, activities, budgets, monitoring data, and timelines.
    3. Demonstrated experience and success in grant prospecting, research, and writing.
    4. Proven ability to translate programmatic and financial information from Spanish into clear, compelling, funder-appropriate English narratives.
    5. Strong organizational and project management skills, with close attention to detail and the ability to meet firm deadlines.
    6. Experience coordinating grant reporting, including collecting information from program, finance, and M&E staff and synthesizing it into funder-compliant reports.
    7. Ability to collaborate closely with executive leadership, program teams, finance staff, and fundraising committees.
    8. Experience with donor stewardship activities, including tracking donations, sending acknowledgements and receipts, and supporting ongoing donor communications.
    9. Proficiency with donor databases or CRM systems (experience with Little Green Light or similar platforms preferred) and comfort using Google Workspace.
    10. High level of professionalism, discretion, and accountability when handling confidential donor and organizational information.

    Desired / Preferred Qualifications

    • Prior experience working with or for international or cross-cultural nonprofit organizations, particularly in Latin America or Peru.
    • Familiarity with the U.S. foundation and philanthropic landscape, including private and family foundations.
    • Experience leading, supporting, and/or coordinating individual donor fundraising campaigns, including midyear and end-of-year appeals.
    • Experience working with budgets and financial reports and ensuring alignment between narrative and financial documentation.
    • Familiarity with monitoring, evaluation, and learning (M&E) frameworks and incorporating results and outcomes into grant reports.
