    About the Parish

    We are a welcoming, social‑justice‑oriented faith community with worship rooted in the Episcopal liturgical tradition. The church and office are located in the center of historic Bolton Hill in Baltimore, Maryland.

    Position Summary

    The Parish Administrator provides part‑time administrative support to the parish and reports to the rector. The rector will set priorities and timelines. The successful candidate will be a strong independent worker with excellent written and verbal communication skills, a warm and professional presence with congregants and visitors and proven ability to maintain confidentiality.

    Part‑time position (approximately 15 hrs/wk). Regular hours will include scheduled office time on Mondays and Thursdays; additional in‑office hours may be scheduled as needed and may be supplemented by remote work. Specific hours will be agreed upon with the rector. Paid time-off will be negotiated and dates for office holiday closing will be provided.

    Pay: $25 to $28/hr commensurate with experience

    How to Apply

    Key Skills and Qualifications:

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and comfort learning third‑party email/mailing list software and the parish website platform. Training will be provided for parish systems.
    • High school diploma required; associate degree or higher preferred.
    • Minimum 4 years of office experience required.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional, welcoming demeanor.
    • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Familiarity with Episcopal, Catholic, or Lutheran liturgy preferred.
    • Social justice orientation and comfort working in a diverse community.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Prepare and print weekly worship bulletins.
    • Maintain and update the parish mailing list/email list using third‑party software (training provided).
    • Prepare and send weekly electronic communications and other scheduled mailings.
    • Keep the parish website updated (training and details provided).
    • Manage the parish calendar using Google Calendar.
    • Open, sort, and distribute mail.
    • Answer and manage phone calls during working hours; respond to information and scheduling requests promptly by phone, email, or in person.
    • Maintain and organize electronic files and prepare and format annual and other reports as requested.
    • Maintain basic office supplies and equipment and advise rector when replenishment or service may be required.
    • Schedule access for contractors and inspectors in coordination with the Building Committee Chair.
    • Provide basic financial information to the parish bookkeeping firm as requested.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
    • Must be able to climb a flight of stairs.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Must be available to attend at least one Sunday morning service as part of the orientation process.
    • Must have access to reliable Wi-Fi and personal computer or laptop for remote work
    • Must be able to pass a diocesan background check.
    • For reasons of confidentiality and to avoid possible conflict of interest, this position is not open to current parishioners.
